About how do you travel cross country with little money

How do you travel cross country with little money?
I am planning on going to Albuquerque, New Mexico and I live in South Carolina. I have very little money, but not enough to buy a plane ticket. I am 20 years old and currently going to community college for this semester then I am planning on leaving for NM. I've tried to get jobs for more money but no one is hiring -if that helps- (I would never hitch-hike) How can I go about getting to Albuquerque?

I you knew someone who was going all or part of the way, you could help them pay for gas and hitch a ride with them. Other than that, the cheapest way to go would be Greyhound. You could take the bus all of the way, or if you knew someone who could bring you part of the way, you could take the bus the rest of the way. I wouldn't hitchhike, either.
Answer 2 :
you could ride a bus or maybe a train.

Actually what you plan on doing sound like alot of fun. I am a foreinger living in Asia and I have done this type of thing when I go traveling. First, I would advise staying in hostels or couch surfing. Check Hostelbookers.com or a website of couch surfing (couchsurfing.net....I forget). Next, check for buses like greyhound or trains. Also, check for rideshares like on craigslist.com or something. Also, think about a motorcycle. if you can find a cheap one, it costs next to nothing filling the tank. Good luck but make sure to plan a route or specific city destinations to make sure your staying on track. Also, bring maps of those places to help plan for the unexpected.
