So I would like to travel through there in the night. Well, it depends on what time of the year you are traveling because I went through the Mojave Desert in Dec 1998 and there was a blizzard, all roads and highways were closed, we had to stay in Mojave for the night. "Winter months bring temperatures dipping to below 20 °F (-7 °C) on valley floors. In longer periods between storm systems, winter temperatures in valleys can approach 80 °F (27 °C)." Definitely check the weather as you get closer because it can change. Here are some average temps for the year: http://www.go-california.com/Mojave-Desert/Weather/ The Mojave Desert is actually starts in Arizona but if you are taking 40 all the way to CA, then Needles is the place you need to look up the weather for first and it's about 7hrs from Albuquerque so if you leave at 10a - noon, you can go through the desert at night, but it gets cold so you might run into snow, like I did in 1998. Update: shouldn't be too hot at the end of Oct, maxing out in the 80s.

I suppose it depends on your exact rout. the Mojave starts in western Arizona...see 1st site. then see 2nd site for map and distance.
